Student Services
West High School Counseling & Student Services
Counseling and Student Services attempts in all ways to be a source of help to the students, teachers, and parents of West High School. Its primary goal is to help each student overcome any obstacle that might interfere with his/her successful education at West and to prepare him/her for post-secondary goals.
West High School focuses on the following counseling services:
- Academic
- College Resources
- Career Resources
- Personal/Social/Emotional Resources
Students and parents are encouraged to contact counselors at any time during the school day. Counselors will work with students to develop course schedules, assist in handling academic or personal challenges, and plan for post-secondary education and career paths.
Counselor Office Hours: 8:00 am – 3:40 pm, Monday – Friday.
Student Services also maintains all student records and official transcripts. Please contact Registrar Leslie Hernandez at hernandezle@davenportschools.org.
For Transcript Requests, be sure to include the following:
- Your name (current name and name while in High School if different).
- Your phone #.
- Your date of birth.
- Year of graduation.
- Where you want it sent (Name of school or business, complete address or fax #).
- You may pick it up in person, but are required to show ID.

School Social Worker

Holly, Therapy Dog (trained through the Quad Cities Canine Assistance Network) What is a therapy dog? A highly trained dog that offers companionship, relieves stress, boosts self-esteem and helps with anxiety and depression. Holly will be all over West High School, but her main point of contact will be in the C & SS Office with Mrs. Murphy.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
If your student will be absent for an extended length of time (due to illness, Covid-19, bereavement, etc.), please email your student’s teachers and counselor as soon as possible.
Students should keep in touch with teachers by email and/or the Google Classroom.
The names of your student’s teachers can be found in your Parent Portal under your student’s schedule.
Counselor names and assignments can be found above.
Our School Social Worker may also be of assistance.
U.S. Army Recruiter for WHS is Rachelle Mitchell, rachelle.r.mitchell2.mil@army.mil. Ms. Mitchell will visit WHS the first and third Thursday of each month.
